The Mayan Long Count Calendar

The Mayan Long Count Calendar also known as the Mayan Calendar, is an ancient Mayan calendar that is located in the Mayan city of Central America. It is the calendar that predicts the world will come to an end on the 21st of December in 2012 because the calendar ends on that date. In the film, the calendar correctly predicted the world will end in 2012 due to the Sun's destructive forces.

History

The Mayan Calendar was created by the Mayans themselves as well as ancient gods in the prehistoric times where it warns the Mayan people that their home planet had an ending date. The Mayans were deeply shocked and this was recorded by several archaeologists in the future along with religious people who become convinced that this might be true, but several people around the world thought it was just a myth and refused to believe it.

On December 21st 2012, the worldwide apocalypse had begun as earthquakes of unprecedented strength wreck several cities, volcanoes engulfing areas in several countries, including supervolcanoes and gigantic megatsunamis flooding the entire planet. This causes everyone to realise that the Mayan calendar was right about the world ending in 2012 and think nothing will save them.

After the apocalypse ended, the fate of the Mayan calendar remains unknown as it might have been destroyed in a earthquake or tsunami in Central America.
